U Mobile estimates its ULTRA5G network reaches 2.3 million people in Sabah

The operator links the expansion to CTS Horizon fibre serving more than 545 sites. Population reach is its estimate, not an independent measure of use or speed.

U Mobile said on November 3 that its ULTRA5G network footprint now reaches approximately 2.3 million people in Sabah, Malaysia. The operator linked the expansion to fibre backhaul supplied by CTS Horizon, its partner since April 2025. The figure is an estimate of population within the network footprint; it is neither a count of active subscribers nor an independent measurement of user experience. [1][2][3][4]

According to U Mobile, CTS Horizon has delivered more than 500 leased fibre circuits across Sabah and Labuan. The company said more than 545 Sabah sites now have upgraded backhaul with capacity of up to 10 Gbps per site. That figure describes the fibre connection to a site, not each user’s download speed. Telecompaper, ProductNation and Pokde.Net covered the expansion, but their numbers derive from U Mobile’s announcement. [1][2][3][4]

The operator named Kota Kinabalu, Penampang, Tuaran, Papar and Keningau among the covered locations, along with several indoor venues. It did not publish an updated population coverage percentage specifically for Sabah or independent performance measurements in those places.
