Claro and Entel gain lines through number portability in Peru in September
OSIPTEL recorded 547,874 mobile operator switches with numbers retained. Claro gained a net 29,812 lines and Entel 10,799; the balance does not measure their total customer bases.
In Peru, 547,874 mobile lines changed provider while keeping their numbers in September 2026, regulator OSIPTEL reported on October 12 using data from the central portability database administrator. Of that total, 428,504 were control and postpaid plans. The figure measures transfers between providers in one month, not the country’s total mobile customer base. DPL News repeated the figures while attributing them to the regulator; it did not provide an independent measurement. [1][2]
Claro received 190,592 ported lines and lost 160,780, leaving a positive net balance of 29,812. Entel gained 150,910 and ceded 140,111, for a positive net balance of 10,799. Guinea Mobile also ended positive, with a net gain of 37 lines. These balances subtract outgoing from incoming ported lines; they exclude new subscriptions, cancellations and other customer movements. [1]
Movistar recorded a negative net balance of 20,267 lines and Bitel one of 20,381. The results reflect competition for users retaining their numbers, but cannot establish whether price, coverage or quality drove their decisions without further evidence.
